Message from Mr Foster
Dear All
‘Apprentice Week 1’ was as exciting as ever, with five of the 26 candidates getting fired. The field is strong this year, as proved by the total profit of £267.40 made selling items of stationery. Last week, the remaining 21 candidates were designing a marketing campaign (TV Advert) for a brand new chocolate bar. Congratulations to our Year 5 footballers who beat Rolleston 4 vs 1 on Wednesday to qualify for the Leicester Billing Cup Semi-Finals for the first time in the school’s history. Well done to Ryan Haycock – who has coached them to this success.

Dear All
Our EWO (Education Welfare Officer) has asked me to point out that the school’s attendance is currently 94.3% – below our target of 95%. Please ensure that your child is in school every day.

Thought for the Week
“We often grow up being told that we can do this or that, but if you don’t see anybody that looks like you doing it, you don’t believe you can do it.”

Monday (20/01) sees the start of ‘The Apprentice 2014’. This is always one of the most exciting parts of the school year for all at Abbey. This year we have had over 100 applications. Thanks to all of the pupils who completed their forms. Unfortunately only about 20 applications can be successful. The candidates will get their weekly task in Monday assembly and then in every Friday assembly you can watch the summary of the week, see who stays and who gets fired! All parents and carers are welcome to watch every Friday. Don’t be disappointed if you did not get in this year – enjoy the next eight weeks and either apply again next year or go for Master Chef in the summer term.
