Message from Mr Foster
Dear All,
Mahatma Gandhi once said: “It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”
This quote from the great man sums up what we are trying to achieve at Abbey Primary. Every day we seek to improve the school further. People may not always agree with everything we do, but we try (from the heart) to do the right thing – take the right action. In this way we will seek to maintain Abbey’s ‘outstanding’ status. Have a peaceful weekend.
Mr Foster

Thought for the week: “The purpose of life is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, and to make some difference, to know that you have lived and lived well.”

Education News – What do you think?
Children face being at school for nine hours a day and see their holidays cut drastically under plans being examined by the Conservative Government. The proposals would see school days extended to run from about 9am until 6pm, from the current hours of around 8.30am to 3.10pm. Holidays would also be reduced from 13 weeks to seven. Mr Kirby (David Cameron’s former policy chief) said that it would solve a wide range of issues, “transforming the lives of most households in the UK within two years, reducing youth crime, boosting education standards and preparing children for the world of work by getting them used to full days.
