Industrial Action by the NUT and NASUWT
-
I am letting you know in good time that the NUT and NASUWT have balloted their members for national strike action in defence of adverse changes to pensions, workload, conditions of service, including pay and pay progression and job loss. Leicester Local Authority has received notification of a further one day of discontinuous action on Wednesday 26th March 2014.
-
The other teacher trade unions and support staff trade unions are not involved in this industrial action and so teaching and support staff from unions, other than the NUT and NASUWT, will be expected to attend for work on Wednesday 26th March 2014. However, they are not allowed to cover for absent colleagues.
-
Clearly, I need to consider the resources available to us on the day of the strike. My priority would be to keep the school open to ensure the continuity of educational provision and minimise the impact of any action on any of service users. However, taking into account health and safety requirements it is almost certain that the school will be closed on this day.
-
I will confirm this decision as soon as I know how many teachers are taking action.

Message from Mr Foster
Dear Parents/carers, staff, pupils and governors,
Football – Congratulations to our girls’ football team who beat Alderman Richard Hallam 3-2, St Thomas More 3-1 and drew with Linden Primary 2-2 this week. Our boys are playing in the final stages of the Ray Gamble Trophy next week.
Attendance – the overall school figure of 92.3% for the week before half term was very low. Our EWO (Education Welfare Officer) has expressed concerns about this. Only five classes – 6KE, 5SC, 6JH, 2MK and 2PP were above our 95% target. Please ensure that your child attends school every day unless there are exceptional circumstances. Absence from school significantly hampers pupil progress and overall academic achievement.
