What I’m Reading

Dear Pupils, Parents, Staff and Governors

I am currently reading ‘Water for Elephants’ by Sara Gruen. This novel is gripping and full of the fun and terror of the circus in America’s Depression era. The story may sound a little clichéd: a boy stealing the girl away from her evil husband, but it’s the background which makes it so much more than that – there is constant underlying threat and suspense.

Why not leave a comment and share what you are reading? Tell us why you love the book!

The best comment next week will receive a £10 book token to be awarded in Friday’s assemblies.

For pupils and parents please leave yours/child’s first name and class in the comment.

Enjoy your reading!

    Hi all,

I am currently reading a book called “The Discovery of Witches” by Deborah Harkness’. It is the first of a Trilogy and is a book that has enticed me from the very first chapter.
It is a mystical book all about Witches, Vampires and Daemons. There are 2 main characters : Diana and Matthew (one is the last remaining descendent of the Bishop witch clan and the other is a Vampire) and is set in Oxford and Cambridge. Diana and Matthew have a unique bond entices a special book called the Alchemical manuscript, which only Diana can open. This attracts other mystical creatures that want to get a hold of this book. What’s so interesting about this book that everyone is fighting for? Well it holds the key to how they all became and began their life into this world. It also tell them how to demolish one another and get rid of each kind once and for all.

There are lots of twists and turns and plenty of cliff hangers – which leads onto the second book. For all adults that are into this genre of books – a definite read!!

    Enjoy!! 🙂

I read a book called: “The Twits” by Roald Dahl. I like this book because it is full of funny tricks. Mr Twit and all the other men have hairy faces. When Mr and Mrs Twit go to bed Mr Twit puts a frog on her and it jumped on her face, For that she wanted to pay him back, so that night, they were eating noodles and Mrs Twit put some worms on his plate instead of noodles and he actually ate them. Their life is playing tricks on each other. I am sure you will like this book.

I have just finished reading DIARY OF A WIMPY KID CABIN FEVER by JEFF KINEY as you all probably know . What I like about this book and all the other DIARY OF THE WIMPY KID books is that it is not all about 1 story it’s about a few , it’s like 5 stories in 1. SPOILER ALERT, as I was saying so the bit when Rowley and Greg got told of for putting posters on school property and when Santa’s Elf was spying on Greg so you see there’s a lot of different parts .All in all I think it’s a great book and you should check it out yourself.

    Hi everyone,
FMS are currently reading Monkey and Me by Emily Gravett as a whole class!!
The children love this book as it’s full of all our “tricky words” and lots of repetitive phrases which means that we can all join in and read together as we sit and talk about the fantastic and funny illustrations.

      Hello all,
After all these comments I’ve been looking through i finally found ONE important book that can help me AND the WHOLE of year 6.
As i’m in year 6, we’re learning about World War I, the great thing about the blog page is that WE can scroll through all the comments and post a review of a book that is great for others to read.
As i saw Vaidik’s comment i felt kind of suspicious about the title of the book“How can a pigeon be war hero” and i asked myself is that a true book and then i read all of his comment and it turned out to be a amazing book i am literally in love with and THAT will DEFINITELY help me in year 6 through my work.
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK EVEN IF YOUR NOT IN YEAR 6. It’s probably suitable for ks2…
      ** Thanks For Reading**

    Hi There
Today I shall write to you all about a book which I recently read. This is a story about a little girl called Matilda. I felt very petty for this beautiful girl when her parents did not treat her well. Everyday her mum and dad would go to the shopping and Bingo. They always had fun but never cared about their daughter. Matilda would go to the library all by herself when she was only four years old. She grew up to be interested with books. One day she was reading a book then her father said that wouldn’t you rather watch TV than reading a silly old book? He forced Matilda’s to watch TV then she stared at the TV and the TV screen exploded she screamed saying “that wasn’t me”. I was astonished and almost speechless when I got know Matilda moves stuff without picking or touching. It is another very interesting book written by Roald Dhal and it helped me to improve my vocabulary and to understand many difficult words. I would suggest all of you should read this book. Roald Dhal’s books are very interesting so far I have read Charlie and Chocolate factory and Matilda. Currently I am on The Twits then I am planning to read BFG.

I have just read a story called ‘Bartholomew and the Oobleck’ by Dr Seuss to my class. The children enjoyed listening to the story and making their own Oobleck! They liked lots of different parts of the story and the different things that happened when the Oobleck fell from the sky. They think that everyone will enjoy reading this book.
