Message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
Despite the gloomy weather, this week’s newsletter is full of great news which shows what a generous and caring community school Abbey Primary is. I feel very proud to be the head teacher of a school with such enthusiastic children who are so keen to join in and support others.
Best wishes
Ellie Green – Head Teacher
Lost Property
We have a MOUNTAIN of lost property in the lower school hall. If your child has mislaid expensive coats, jumpers, water bottles…please come in to Reception and someone will take you to have a rummage through and hopefully find these items.
Amazing Attendance
341 children have achieved 100% attendance this half term – they have been in school learning every single day! All names were put into a raffle draw today and 18 lucky winners received FREE admission tickets to Planet Circus.
The prize for next half term’s 100% attenders will be a ticket to The Curve Theatre to see George’s Marvellous Medicine.
Ready, set , READ!
Thank you for supporting our Ready, Set, Read! non-uniform last term. We raised an amazing £450 to spend on wonderful books for our classroom reading zones.
Message from the Headteacher
What a wonderful half term of learning! Every week has been packed with special events and experiences to ensure learning is exciting and engaging. From Friday Celebration Assemblies to Navratri dancing, and spectacular Diwali performances, it has been fantastic to welcome so many parents and carers into school.
Several sporting events have taken place since the start of term and a wide variety of clubs are in full swing to give children a broad range of opportunities after school. It is lovely to hear children developing their musical skills also, learning to play the piano, tabla and recorder.
Next term promises to be filled with even more exciting learning challenges.
Non-Uniform Day
Do you want your child to be a great reader? Help us to offer our children the inspiring reading choices they deserve. Tomorrow , 13th October, is a non-uniform day and fund-raising event to raise money to buy as many fantastic new books as possible for our classrooms. The more money we raise, the more books we can buy!
Children are asked to come into school wearing sports kits or sports clothes for a day of lively learning linked to reading, speaking and listening.
ALL DONATIONS WILL BE SPENT ON WONDERFUL BOOKS.

Abbey Attendance
Three weeks ago, a challenge was set…any class achieving 100% attendance for a whole week would receive money to spend on books. 6JH, 6SH and 5PR have all achieved this award – Mrs Raja’s class have reached the magic 100% twice!
Bali Rai’s Visit
Our Year Five team had the privilege of meeting famous children’s author, Bali Rai on Tuesday. Our children were superbly well-mannered but most importantly, inspired to read more. Reading is cool and so are writers – we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting to Bali.
