SATs Week

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week is an extremely important one for our Year 6 pupils – it is KS2 SATs. However, there is no need to worry! The children have been brilliantly prepared by the Year 6 (and other KS2) staff and I know that they will do themselves, their families and the school proud.

It is very important that your child is well rested over the weekend and eats a good, healthy breakfast before coming to school. Please can you ensure that your child is in the Bruin Street playground by 8.40 a.m. each day, so that we can prepare them properly for the day ahead. The pupils will be given juice, biscuits and fruit during the morning.

It is essential that your child is in school each day – there are no other opportunities for them to take the tests. Thanks for your support and best of luck to everyone.

Wizard of Oz Performance

We have invited M & M Productions to come into school to do a performance of ‘Wizard  of  Oz on Friday 7th June 2013.

This is an excellent opportunity for the children to experience a live performance by professional actors. It will also form part of their studies as it will be linked to the connected curriculum. The cost will be £1.75 per child.

This performance will take place in school time. Please fill in the permission slip, that has been sent out or see the school office, and return it to the school as soon as possible with £1.75 in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and class.

Learning Thought of the Week

Please remember that if teaching and learning is outstanding the pupils should immediately be confident in explaining:

“What are we learning in this lesson?”

“Why are you learning it?”

“What is your NEW learning in this lesson?”

Articulating this is something that should be an integral part of all lessons.
