Message from Mr Foster

For Year 1 to Year 5 pupils, next week is mid-year assessment week. We use this week to check how well each child is doing and ensure that interventions are in place to accelerate progress where needed. Assessment in the Foundation Stage and in Year 6 is ongoing throughout the school year. Thanks again to all parents and carers who are sending their children at 8.30 a.m. on ‘Breakfast Morning’. To help with their SATs preparation, our Year 6 pupils will be able to come in at 8.30 a.m. every morning from Monday 13th January. It’s nearly time for our 4th series of ‘The Apprentice’. The closing date for applications is 5.00 p.m. on Monday 13th January. This could be the best series yet! Have a restful and peaceful weekend.

Message From Mr Foster

Dear All,

It is appropriate in the week following Nelson Mandela’s death to reflect on his enormous contribution to the World.

This week India’s top court upheld a law which criminalises gay relationships; it is good to remind ourselves of our duty of equality. All schools are bound by The Equality Act (2010) which makes it illegal to discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Abbey is and should always be a model of tolerance, respect and equality.
